Customer Review: Probably the best TV out there for the price, but its got some quirks. The first thing we looked for in a TV was the picture, and mitsubishi really hit the nail on the head there, the colors are beautiful, however quite substantial motion lag is noticed. I liked the picture of the Samsung DLPs more, but they were also considerably more expensive. I have hooked my laptop up to the screen via the PC connection and the picture is AMAZING, but have not tried out the usb input yet. The number of HDMI’s is fine for me.

The interface is pretty good, it is simple to switch between inputs and the sound is OK, but as some other reviewers have said, some fiddling with it is necessary. The fan is quite obnoxious if you are close to the TV, but at a regular sitting distance for this TV(about 15-20 feet) It is not noticeable. I have never been bothered by the sound of the cooling fan other than when I go back behind the TV to connect something. It is quite loud then, and the fan is really quite forceful, it blasts hot air out of the left hand side and kept blowing things off of a shelf we had next to it.

This leads me to question how the TV would operate without the ventilated location it has in my home, and that it might easily overheat. The one thing that I really dislike about this TV is that the bulb burnt out after only 8 months of use. We sent for a new one under its one year warranty and it shipped actually quite quickly. So their customer support was impressive, but I just don’t understand why the bulb on this one doesn’t last. We had another DLP TV before this one and the bulb on on that one never burnt out. I can only hope that the new one doesn’t burn out because by that time it will be out of warranty and these bulbs run for around $250. Yikes!!!

Customer Review: Poor color tuning & a hum I bought this Mitsubishi to replace a smaller Sony HDTV and had it for three days before returning it. There were two problems: First the TV cast a very noticable blue cast on dark colors including people’s hair, walls, and virtually anything dark. There is little black or gray. There are three factory settings for color adjustment: Brilliant the default factory setting, which cast the blue cast, bright, and natural. The best picture is the brilliant, and to get rid of the the blue one has to go to a very dim “natural” picture.

If I wanted to watch a dim picture I could buy a used standard definition TV for virtually nothing. The set has great color controls, but no matter what I did, including lowering the blue drive I could not get rid of the problem. The hum many others have commented on starts out low and after an hour is very noticable. I had no such problems with the Sony, and I also have a Samsung, both of which had no problems like this. I bought a Toshiba 65″ to replace the Mitsubishi, and I could immediately tell the picture was going to be great. Buy at your own risk.

This 52-inch HDTV is just six inches thick but packs in a lot of technology for outstanding performance.

Quality speakers are hidden away to maintain a beautiful, minimalist look that takes up less space in your room. The display is 1080p, which means it has the full 1920 x 1080 high definition resolution with progressive scan that is the highest quality HDTV standard today. With large televisions, this is important, as having a dense array of over two million pixels prevents the eye from seeing pixelation, especially at close distances.

The television is able to display any video signal that is connected to it. When a 1080p signal is the input, it is passed through with no down conversion, and the 1080p signal is maintained from beginning to end, giving the best picture quality. When a lower resolution is detected, whether it is 720p HD or a DVD, the signal is automatically scaled to display at 1080p, with minimal side effects and an extremely detailed picture.

In addition, the LT-52144 relies on Mitsubishi’s Smooth120Hz technology that utilizes a 120Hz refresh rate to prevent image judder and create an even smoother image during fast-motion scenes.

Vibrant Colors You’ve Never Seen Before
The LT-52144 incorporates a slew of new technologies that give this television the most realistic color reproduction available on the market today. The new x.v.Color standard is supported, which dramatically increases the color space available, with 80% more color than standard HDTV. The television also supports Deep Color, a new standard that incorporates 10-bit color depth versus the previous 8-bit color depth. With Deep Color, shaded images show less banding and greater contrast.

Mitsubishi’s Full Spectrum Color is an exclusive system that uses a wide range of phosphors in the LCD’s backlight for brighter and more vivid reds and yellows, and more shades of green, cyan, and blue. Along with Mitsubishi’s Color 4D Noise Reduction and PerfectColor, you get a wider color palette and the ability to fine tune the set to your exact preferences. The end result is a picture that is brighter, smoother, and more realistic than ever, with colors that have never been seen on a television set before.

Connections Galore
You don’t need to worry about running out of connections with the LT-52144. It has a total of three HDMI 1.3 inputs with Simplay HD certification, so you can connect your Blu-Ray player, HD DVD player, and still have an input left over. It also has three component video inputs (two rear, one side), a side USB connection so you can display up to five megapixel photographs on the television, and two rear A/V inputs with S-Video. It has a Dolby Digital/PCM output and an analog stereo output. Mitsuibishi’s NetCommand allows the included partially-illuminated remote to control an entire home theater system.
