Speaking of audio, the TV’s audio system isn’t primed for high-end sound experience. But if you’re in for talk and regular shows, then the set’s audio will just be fine and you can omit the surround sound stereo. However, if you prefer to listen to deafening sounds of your movies, an external gadget can easily be used to improve the sound quality.

Yes, this TV is easy to use. It has an icon-based on-screen menu that can be understood easily. Need help? Then there’s an explanation about the menu as well. When you need to check up on options for the current input, all you need to do is to access the separate tools button on the remote control.

This works just like your pc’s mouse. There’s more; when you need to play a connected device, the easy-to-use LN46A550 instantly switches the input to that source. A major feature of the Samsung is the convenience factor. Much of the controls that need to be used can be used automatically, without the need of a few extra steps.

One of the only problems that you will find involves the remote control. It has backlit buttons that are large enough to be viewed by almost everyone, however if you like the picture in picture option and use it frequently, you will have to go through the menu option each time, there are no buttons assigned to it. Another issue with the remote is that you cannot use it to control other electronics such as a VCR because there is no way to program it.

With large and easy to see buttons, you’d think that the remote control is perfect. Not quite. Missing is a helpful PiP button for your easy access to Picture-in-Picture. Also, that ratio button is mislabeled. Who will immediately know what a P-Size is? Playing your devices like DVD will be tasking as well since it isn’t programmable. Well you can still play these devices if you want to, granted that you use the brand’s proprietary Anynet technology. The HDMI ‘s Consumer Electronics Control channel will make it possible.

The set-up guide and bilingual manual is supposed to facilitate that easy set-up. But the opposite happens. The guide is difficult to comprehend for the non-techie person and the manual is long and too complicated. While the price of some flat screen TV’s are too high due to a bad product, the Samsung offers enough options to justify the price.

So why is the LN46A550 such a good buy at $1500? That’s because of its features. Its USB port is helpful when you view pictures and listen to music. On the side of the set are the easy-to-access HDMI, S-Video and the USB. Want to change the angle of the set for viewing pleasure? Then you can do that as well, as the set can swivel on its stand. Reasons such as these help make the set a well-rounded HDTV and a winner.

Samsung LNT5271F 52″ 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV ordered this tv on 2/17/08 and it was delivered on 2/23/08. Eagle called and said they would be there @ 8:30am and they arrived @ 8:35am. delivery was flawless as well as the set-up. The price went down $125 and Amazon credited my card. What a great picture (as i had a crt before) i guess anything would look good. I was researching hdtv’s since last Oct. and finally pulled the trigger on the 5271. So far i am not sorry with the tv, Amazon, or delivery. Ordered a dvdr hard drive recorde to go with this and a blu-ray will be next. Also, ordered an Onkyo 805 thru Amazon in Jan.That unit (805) is something else. I hear sounds that i never heard before from my cd’s. So slowly but surely i am building my home-theater system. Very pleased with Amazon, Onkyo, Samsung. Now, i have a question for someone about HDTV. At the present time i have a Comcast cable coming into my home. No box or anything, the cable is plugged into my present vcr that passes the signal directly to the tv. When i programmed the tv (auto) it picked up HD stations 2,4,5,7,and a few others here in NJ. But on ocassion these stations disapppear then they return and they pixelize at times. The question is do i need a hd box to get hd consistenty or should i get it thru the cable line as long as i have a HDTV? I’m waiting for FIOS to come here as Verizon has been in our development last Sept. and was starting to do some digging.So i really don’t want to commit to an extented contract with Comcast or Dish tv.Also,some of the stations that come in (HD) are in 470i or 780i then they switch to 1080i which looks good hen it stays. I love this T.V. I did a lot of research on which one I wanted and selected the Samsung. The colors, contract, picture…everything….is beyond my expectations. Amazon’s price was the best! The “white-glove” delivery was excellent. The delivery man made me feel like a queen. The whole experience was 5-star.

Best 40″ HDTV on the market. Would definitely recommend. I purchased this TV for my husband’s birthday, and I cannot get him away from it. He is watching things he doesn’t even like just to see the quality of the show in HD. We had originally ordered the same TV at Best Buy online and had a lot of hassles with delivery being delayed several times with no explanation (and terrible customer service), so we canceled the order and found it at Amazon. Delivery was as promised thru Amazon with no hassles. We saved several hundred dollars purchasing from Amazon as compared to Best Buy. Would never recommend purchasing an item from Best Buy Online. Amazon was fast, friendly and as promised.
