Customer Review: Every BAD review you’ve read about this Sharp model is TRUE… Initially we were very happy about our purchase. We believed we had purchased a quality product from a reliable company. If we’d known then what we now know about this model (Sharp Aquos LC32D40U) we would have NEVER ever bought this over priced piece of junk. Sharp should be ashamed of itself for ever allowing consumers to believe they were purchasing a first tier, quality Sharp product.

The first time we bought this set (yes you read that right) we had to return it to the store because half of the sets inputs were defective (this was verified by the repair guy that did an on site call). Because less than 2 weeks had passed from the time of purchase the store exchanged the set with little problems. We simply chalked it up to bad luck of the draw. This second set lasted a little over 1 year before we started to expereince the following.

CONS: 1. Diagonal line appeared across the corner of the set (very visable) and never went away. 2. Display cut out (audio remained). We could “reset” it by turning the set off and waiting a while before turing it back on again but what a hassle! Especially when it would cut out repeatedly. 3. Color balance began to be very inconsistant. This time getting a service call wasn’t so easy. We spent over 45 days calling customer service for assitance. After all was said and done we were told by a Sharp customer service agent to return the set to the store where it would be exchanged. That turned out to NOT be true. That was the worst insult of all, finding Sharps customer service people were deceitful in telling us what we needed to do to have the set repaired, then replaced. Once we figured out what was going on and confronted them all they had to say was “I’m sorry you feel that way”. WOW! What stunning customer service (NOT). Like others who have been screwed by Sharp on this model we will NEVER buy another Sharp product. Normally we don’t bother with extended warranties but fortunately we had opted for one at the store where we had purchased this set. We were eventually able to return the defective set and exchange it for a different set; a SONY Bravia (KDL32XBR4).

PROS Simply put, there are none. I don’t care how nice a set looks or what great features it claims to have. For the amount of money you spend for this model you should rightfully expect that it be manufactured at Sharps main plant with a 100% authentic, first tier quality Sharp products. The fact that Sharp isn’t willing to fully disclose that this set does NOT fit that criteria is unethical and simply wrong. If you recently bought this set, good luck to you because the bloom will be off the rose soon. For those considering this Sharp model, DON’T! For the money you can do so much better.

Customer Review: Good picture but poor reliability
While this set produces a good picture the video has failed in a similar manner to other Amazon reviews. If you must have this set an extended service warranty is highly recommended. (This is a Best Buy purchase.) Our set first started losing video at 11 months. We had a service call and the TV went another month or two before acting up again. If it were not for the extended warranty we would have been out of luck at this point. To cut to the chase, after three service calls and three visits the set was pronounced unrepairable and we’re being allowed to get a replacement TV of any brand from Best Buy.

Customer Review: HD Heaven. Get it. Sharp delivers on the goods with this one. The picture quality is amazing, the speakers are as good as it gets built in, and the inputs are plentiful and easy to work with. I bet the newer Sharp Aquos model with upgraded features and the added HDMI input would also be sweet if the price comparison is close enough.

Sharp Aquos LC46D62U not the latest and greatest??
I purchased the D62U instead of the latest product by Sharp, the D64U, to save a few dollars. Do I regret that decision? Heck, no. The difference between the two would be transparent to me. I find that the Aquos has a true black background which gives true colors. Set up is simple. It took about five minutes to learn the controls without reading the instructions (Yes, I’m a true male). The only time I needed the instructions was to put the base to the screen. I definitely recommend this model to everyone.

Six Stars ! Great LCD - Picture is Beautiful ! Even with just rabbit ears hooked up ! Can’t find the words ……. You must see it to believe it ! How can you describe a super sharp picture, life like colors……. no words. My only problem with the unit is that all the HD connections are on the right side of the unit, making for an extra 2 ft of cable was needed…? Buy this TV !

Customer Review: Best Value LCD
I think this is one of the best value LCD televisions available. I think the Sony Bravia has the best picture, but it really goes up in price compared to the Sharp. I don’t see the attraction to the Samsung products (other than the 52 inch LCD they have), and I think that the Sharp looks better than every LCD besides the Sony. I have blu-ray for the TV, and it looks magnificent. So get this TV, a blu-ray player, and Planet Earth on blu-ray and you will see the power the TV actually has.

Customer Review: I love this TV!!!
I bought this TV the last week of November, and have had it for about 2 weeks. The picture was phenomenal, right out of the box. I’d give this 5 stars, based on the following: PROS: * VERY nice picture. Watching NBA and NFL was like putting on glasses for the 1st time. I immediately noticed details that I’ve never seen before…and this was just on a 37″ TV!

I’ve already had 2 friends buy one of these after coming over to see mine. I can’t get enough of the Discovery Channel’s HD offerings! I loved them before, but they are night-and-day better in HD!!! * GREAT console. The TV fits nicely in my living room, and has a very attractive black casing. * VERY nice picture. It’ SO good, I needed to mention it twice!!! * EASY set up. The TV is packaged so that you can fasten the base onto the TV without removing it from the foam bumpers. This prevents the screen from getting scratched while (alternatively) lying it on the floor during installation. Great packaging!!! * NICELY laid out jacks.

The TV has 2 HDMI and 3 Component jacks. One jack has an S-Video-In which takes priority over one set of Components. The back of the tv is indented and has 2 clips that nestle your input cables and channel them to the lower back-center of the TV. This will help reduce the clutter behind your TV. CONS: * Sound. As mentioned by other reviewers, the sound isn’t anything special. Of course, you’ll probably be hooking a TV like this up to a receiver…but if you don’t, you won’t be overly impressed with the audio. * Volume. In a less than ideal environment,(i.e. dishwasher running in the background, spouse talking in the other room…) the max volume setting seems a little low. Again, this is solved with a receiver, but I would have liked a higher max setting. * No side inputs.

The gaming version (appx $200 more) has a special gamer-setting, and includes a side input. I can’ imagine that they cost that much, and I feel that at least ONE side-input should have been standard… I love this TV!!!! I don’t know how I put up with standard definition and my old CRT TV!!! I can confidently recommend this TV to you!!! On a side note, I bought this TV over the 780p model. In case you’re wondering, ‘yes’ you can tell the difference between 1080p and 780p on this TV! Pay the extra couple hundred and get the 1080p!!! Also, I plan on using this TV for occasional gaming (Halo 3). If you’re looking for a TV PRIMARILY for gaming, I’d suggest going down to the 32″ 1080p version (LC32D62U or LC32GP1U-gaming)
